This policy covers the EcomImprove website (ecomimprove.com) and the EcomImprove Product Quiz app for Shopify. The short version: we build product quizzes from store catalogs. We work with product data, not shopper data, and we collect the minimum needed to run the service.
What we collect from merchants
Through the Shopify app:when you install the app we access your store's product catalog (titles, types, tags, descriptions, prices, images) via Shopify's Admin API under the read_products permission, plus your store name, domain, and currency. We use this solely to generate your quiz. Your published quiz is stored inside your own store as app data and is removed by Shopify when you uninstall the app.
Through the website:if you request a demo quiz, we record the store web address you submit and use your store's public catalog to build the demo. If you book a call or subscribe, we receive the contact and billing details you provide to our payment and scheduling providers (Stripe, Calendly); app subscriptions are billed by Shopify and we never see your payment details.
What we collect from your shoppers
Nothing. The quiz runs entirely in the shopper's browser. Answers are not transmitted to us or stored anywhere, and the quiz sets no cookies and uses no tracking. We do not collect, process, or store personal data about your customers.
AI processing
Quiz questions are drafted by an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) from your product catalog. Only catalog data is sent for this — never customer data. Generated quizzes are reviewed against your real catalog before anything is shown.
Retention and deletion
Catalog data is processed transiently during quiz generation and not retained as a copy on our servers. Demo quizzes generated on the website expire and are deleted within 14 days. When you uninstall the app, Shopify removes your quiz data with it; any operational records referencing your store are deleted within 30 days of Shopify's deletion notice, honoring Shopify's privacy webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact).
Where data lives
Our servers are hosted on Railway in the United States. Data you store in Shopify stays in your Shopify store. We do not sell or share data with third parties beyond the processors named above (Shopify, Anthropic, Stripe, Calendly, Railway), each used only for the purpose described.
